Renowned publicist Dale Bhagwagar voices concerns over Truecaller issues

Dale Bhagwagar, one of India’s most respected publicists, has expressed his dissatisfaction with Truecaller, a popular caller identification app, after a series of frustrating encounters with the app’s support team and functionality issues.

In a recent Facebook post, Bhagwagar detailed his experience of having to subscribe to Truecaller Premium solely to correct his name, which seemed to have altered by an unknown individual. Despite purchasing the paid service, he continued to face difficulties, particularly a persistent “422:2 error” that hindered his ability to update his Company Name and Bio.

Bhagwagar shared that his initial interactions with Truecaller’s support team led to a resolution of his name issue, albeit with significant difficulty. According to him, a representative named Amy informed him via email that the system did not allow the use of the name “Dale” due to privacy constraints, suggesting instead that he use his second initial. Bhagwagar found this suggestion unacceptable, as “Dale” is his real and true name. After further discussions, the issue was resolved, allowing his name to be displayed correctly.

However, Bhagwagar’s troubles did not end there. He continues to face the same “422:2 error” when attempting to update his Company Name and Bio. Despite writing to Truecaller support again, he mentioned in his Facebook post that he has not received a response for three days.

Expressing his frustration, Bhagwagar highlighted the broader implications of his experience, noting, “If such a thing can happen to a known publicist like me, then it can happen to anyone. I wonder how many others are facing similar issues with Truecaller!” He also voiced concerns about the app’s security, privacy, and overall functionality, even after paying for a subscription.

The incident underscores the challenges users face with digital services and the importance of efficient customer support and robust app functionality.

As of now, Bhagwagar awaits a satisfactory resolution from Truecaller’s Grievance Redressal team and hopes he won’t have to escalate the matter further. His experience serves as a cautionary tale for other users and a call to action for Truecaller and the paid service Truecaller Premium to address these persistent issues.
