Khushi Kapoor talks about the differences between ‘Loveyapa’ and ‘The Archies’

Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late Sridevi, is promoting her upcoming film ‘Loveyapa’, a Hindi remake of the Tamil film ‘Love Today’ (2022). Directed by Advait Chandan, ‘Loveyapa’ stars Kapoor alongside Junaid Khan, Ashutosh Rana, and Kiku Sharda.

The film explores the complexities of modern relationships when a young couple’s perfect romance is challenged by a phone-exchange dare. ‘Loveyapa’ is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 7th February.

Kapoor made her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’ in 2023, which received mixed reviews. In a recent interview, Kapoor revealed that she does not regret her first film. She said, “Probably… marketing-wise, it had to be made clear that the film is catering to a younger audience. I don’t want to particularly change anything, and even I believe the film was for a really young audience. In fact, the people who enjoyed it the most were the ones who were below the age of 16. Plus, I feel like everything doesn’t have to be made for everyone”.

She added, “But yeah, I don’t regret the film at all. I learnt everything from the film. I owe everything to Zoya, and I have a deep connection with the film and people around it”.

Kapoor has expressed that she feels more stressed about ‘Loveyapa’ than ‘The Archies’. Unlike ‘The Archies’, which premiered on Netflix, ‘Loveyapa’ is a theatrical release, bringing box office pressure.

She told Hindustan Times, “During the trailer launch, when we entered the theatre and saw the trailer and some of the songs on the big screen, I was really shaking. I thought it was casual. It’s just the trailer, and I’ve seen it. It’d be fine. But then, seeing it on the big screen, I was like, ‘Oh, sh*t, this is really happening’. There’s more stress because it’s like box office numbers and so many other factors that you have to consider when considering a theatrical release. But I think it’s special. So, I did my bit. I did my best”.
